SLOW HORSES by Mick Herron Collector’s Edition

When SLOW HORSES by Mick Herron came out in 2010, it did not raise much of a stir. It sold so poorly in the U.K. that the publisher (Constable) did not continue with the series. But the U.S. publisher (Soho Press) liked the book so much that it doggedly continued to publish books in the series even if sales weren’t great at first. The series gradually gained steam and universal critical acclaim. But first edition collectors of the series found it harder and harder to get their hands on the earlier books because the print runs were relatively small. [An aside: the British edition precedes the U.S. edition. Both are highly collectible. I only found one of each edition for sale on the Internet. Both have selling prices of around $3,000. Don’t know how accurate that is. Asking prices don’t always reflect reality. But I’m sure that first editions of SLOW HORSES are pricey.]

During the pandemic, an Apple TV+ series of Slow Horses was produced with a stellar cast and this series has continued after the pandemic and has became hugely popular. Season 5 is now being released with one episode per week coming out.

My guess is that Mick Herron is now Soho Press’ best-selling author or close to the top of their list.

So to meet the demand of collectors who want a complete set of hardbacks of the series, Soho is coming out (October 28, 2025) with a Collector’s Edition of SLOW HORSES. I just received an advance copy and can verify that it is a beautiful book. Here are some of its features:

How much does it cost you may ask? A mere $39.95. In my opinion, it well worth the price. Just holding it in my hand makes me want to read it again, which I very well may do.
