I really enjoyed the first season of the TV adaptation of Mick Herron’s SLOW HORSES, starring Gary Oldman — great cast and a wonderful script that stayed quite true to the book. I was pleased to read on The Rap Sheet that season two of Slow Horses will premier later this year. It was shot along with season one during the height of the pandemic and is ready for airing now. Season two is based on the second novel in the series – DEAD LIONS – and follows Jackson Lamb (Oldman) and his team as they seek to prove a Cold War-era colleague of Lamb’s was murdered. Seasons three and four will be based on Herron’s REAL TIGERS and SPOOK STREET. (Just typing the names of these books, makes me want to re-read them.)
There are so many good TV dramas to be streamed nowadays that I hope you include this one on your list. My wife and I just finished watching the 10-episode first season of The Lincoln Lawyer and can unreservedly recommend that as well. There is a lot of vulgar language in both of these series, but that seems to be the norm for anything one streams nowadays. I would prefer it not to be so (that’s how I was raised), but I try not to let it interfere with my overall enjoyment of these shows. What used to considered by some as “low class” behavior has come to be so widely accepted, that I don’t see it changing much in the future.
