William Shaw is one of my favorite writers. His latest, THE TRAWLERMAN, is one of the best books of 2021. Unfortunately he is no longer published in the U.S., but his fans can still get his books from the U.K.
Here’s what he wrote in a recent email I received:
“I’ve been crazily busy running a bookshop. Earlier this year I teamed up with the charity Creative Future to set up a volunteer-run community pop-up bookshop in my home town Brighton — a space where established writers collaborate to help emerging voices.
Working with local writer friends like Elly Griffiths, Lesley Thomson, Dorothy Koomson, Mick Finlay, Sharon Duggal, Mick Jackson, Bethan Roberts, and a handful of others including mates like Vaseem Khan, it’s a space where we’ve been selling books by local authors, as well as books about writing and books by new and diverse authors, as well as running workshops and book events.”
New book: new name
Maybe because I was stuck in a house in the south of England, I spent lockdown writing a thriller set on a luxury yacht in the Carribean. My publishers are very giddy about it, but we decided that because it was a little different to the detective fiction it should go out under a slightly different name too — but not so different that people wouldn’t figure out it was by me. For my thrillers, I’m going to be G.W. Shaw. It’s published on 26 May 2022.
